Mantena has been awarded the contract to upgrade Västtrafik’s Coradia X61 train sets. The contract is valued at 67 million Swedish kronor.
Västtrafik is the public transport company of Western Sweden, responsible for transporting travelers in Västra Götaland County and Kungsbacka.
Their Coradia X61 type train sets are now set for a major “makeover,” a project assigned to Mantena.
Competitive Prices
– Mantena meets all the requirements in the tender and also offers the lowest price overall, says Nisse Eriksson, purchaser at Västtrafik.
The contract amounts to 67 million Swedish kronor and is an exciting task that Mantena’s surface department at Grorud looks forward to taking on. Work will start in autumn 2024 and is scheduled to be completed by the following autumn.
– This is an important victory for Mantena. It also demonstrates that we can offer competitive prices in the Swedish market, states Pål Brækken, tender manager at Mantena.
The upgrade consists of painting, exterior washing, and replacement of back and seat cushions, in addition to cleaning and polishing the floors, for a total of 22 train sets. The seats will be reused and rebuilt at Artex in Sweden, and assembled in Oslo.
Flexible and Solution-Oriented
Mantena already has a good relationship with Västtrafik and is currently carrying out a large painting assignment on their Itino trains. This work was used as a reference for the newly acquired contract.
Nisse Eriksson of Västtrafik confirms that they are very satisfied with Mantena’s efforts on their Itino train sets.
– In preparation for this work, Mantena has conducted themselves in an exemplary manner, presenting solutions that have contributed to a good result. They have demonstrated flexibility during the process—and whenever there have been deviations, Mantena has prioritized finding a solution in collaboration with us.
