Mantena is recognized for good management and customer focus

10. October 2024

After a comprehensive review, Mantena has now renewed its ISO certificates. The auditor found no deviations during the thorough audit and praised what he observed.

– An ISO certificate assures the customer that we, as a supplier, have sound structure, systematic processes, and, not least, control over our operations. This is something more and more clients are requiring. We are very pleased that we have now renewed these certificates without any deviations during the audit.

This is stated by Roy Vidar Sannerhaugen, Director of Quality, Health, Environment and Safety (QHSE) at Mantena.

Mantena is certified according to the recognised standards ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, which concern quality management and environmental management (see information box). To maintain these certificates, the company is audited annually by the certification body NEMKO. The certificates are valid for three years, and this autumn it was time for recertification with 11.5 days of thorough auditing of all areas within the organisation.

Good structure in the work

The audit began with central management and administration before the workshops were reviewed. Mantena’s department for quality, health, environment and safety (QHSE) participated throughout the audit process and assisted local management with the implementation.

CHECKING WORK PROCESSES: Kent Jensen shows the auditor how wheel turning is carried out in Stavanger.

The auditor from NEMKO, Sverre Thorstad, was very pleased with what he saw and found no deviations from the requirements of the standard.

– Mantena has a solid management system, with clear process descriptions and corresponding documents. There is a distinct and consistent structure throughout the organisation. Mantena also demonstrates a strong management focus on the audit and in audit meetings, he emphasises.

Examining how the company operates and how the processes function – and verifying the documentation for this – is central to the audit. Clear areas of responsibility, risk management, equipment control, cleanliness, competence, and employee satisfaction are among the factors assessed by the auditor. Customer focus is also central to the standard.

– Mantena demonstrates sound systematic procedures for meeting KPIs towards customers and other contact points, the auditor points out.

FIXED POINT: Chemicals are always a topic in such audits.

He also highlights the values agreement recently signed by employees at Mantena Marienborg. This is intended to motivate adherence to—and ownership of—Mantena’s vision and values.

– Such a values agreement sets the direction for the working environment and efficiency, Thorstad states.

Engaged and Competent

The audit also provided some suggestions for improvements, which Mantena will work on going forward to further enhance itself. The QHSE director commends the execution of the audit.

– The organisation was well prepared, and participation was strong. An engaged and competent group demonstrated how we work and maintain control—both administratively and practically, says Sannerhaugen.
