Mantena at Grorud in Oslo ensures efficient and seamless maintenance of Nordic train components. Competence and capacity are key to their satisfied customers.
At Mantena’s component division at Grorud in Oslo, 120 skilled professionals are at work. Here, they maintain 405 bogies, 3714 wheels, 3400 axle boxes, and 6000 valves each year, to name just a few. Many of the components are owned by Swedish clients—among their customers are operators such as Västtrafik, Öresundstog, and Transitio.
Predictable and Reliable Supplier
Tore Løveid, Director of Products and Projects at Mantena, reports an increase in requests for component maintenance from the Swedish market.
– Many have questions about distances and customs, since the rolling stock must cross national borders and Norway is outside the EU, he explains—while also confirming that this does not pose any problem for Mantena.
– We have extensive experience maintaining Swedish rolling stock in Norway, and for example, we make weekly deliveries of bogies to Hässleholm. This runs smoothly because we have solid routines and procedures in place, he affirms.
Not least, Mantena has significant capacity, both in terms of physical facilities and personnel.
– The fact that we can always take on work ensures that our customers view us as a predictable and reliable supplier.

Independent Total Supplier
Mantena is the Nordic center of expertise for railway vehicles and is an independent total supplier of service and maintenance. While component maintenance is centralized at Grorud in Oslo, Mantena has a number of workshops located in key areas in Norway and in Hässleholm, Sweden. Here, rolling stock is maintained and repaired for both small and large railway companies.
Løveid points out that it is precisely this broad competence and experience that customers benefit from and appreciate.
– With Mantena as your partner, you get a total supplier who understands the bigger picture. We work closely with our customers in order to understand their needs. This in turn leads to more efficient maintenance and more reliable trains, he emphasizes.
He highlights that they also attach great importance to ensuring that new customer relationships get the best possible start.
– The key lies in good planning and communication, so that we solve the customer’s needs in a seamless manner, he affirms.
